The Hyderabad administration has officially enforced a comprehensive ban on all kite flying activities throughout the entire district to prioritize public safety. This strict prohibition has been implemented under Section 144 and is scheduled to remain in effect for a period of ninety days starting from January first to March thirty-first. Commissioner Fayaz Abbasi announced this decisive measure to protect citizens from the potentially fatal risks often associated with kite flying in urban areas. The ban is extensive and covers much more than just the act of flying kites as it also strictly forbids the manufacturing, selling, purchasing, and stockpiling of both kites and their strings.
Authorities have highlighted that the increasing use of dangerous chemical-coated and metallic strings poses a serious threat to human lives which prompted this urgent administrative action. According to the official notification, no gatherings or events related to this sport will be permitted in either public or private locations during these three months. Law enforcement agencies have been empowered to ensure full compliance with these orders. The Station House Officer of local police stations is authorized to take legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against any individuals found violating these safety regulations. This proactive step aims to ensure a safer environment for all residents across the district.
