Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has officially appointed the legendary former captain Wasim Akram as the brand ambassador for the upcoming eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League. This strategic decision aims to elevate the leagues brand value and engagement by involving one of the most iconic figures in cricket history in a pivotal role. Speaking at a press briefing Naqvi confirmed that the Sultan of Swing will formally assume his duties starting from January 1 and will play an active part in the organization of the tournament. Beyond his ambassadorial duties Akram is also set to be involved in key aspects of the player auction working alongside an international auctioneer to ensure a world class event.

Wasim Akram is no stranger to the league having previously served as the President of the Karachi Kings franchise since 2018 where he guided the team to their maiden title victory in 2020. This appointment comes at a crucial time as the cricket board moves forward with significant expansion plans for the league including the addition of two new franchises. The board has already shortlisted ten bidders from across five continents who will participate in the franchise auction scheduled for January 8 in Islamabad. These new teams will represent cities such as Hyderabad Muzaffarabad Sialkot Faisalabad Gilgit or Rawalpindi further broadening the footprint of cricket in the country.
