Punjab Approves 47 Billion Ramazan Package

Punjab Approves 47 Billion Ramazan Package

The Punjab government has officially approved the massive Rs47 billion Ramazan Nigehban Package, a significant move aimed at providing relief to millions of deserving people across the province. This decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where the provincial leadership reviewed preparations for the holy month. The core objective of this initiative is to ensure that no underprivileged family feels neglected or burdened by rising costs during Ramazan. Under this comprehensive package, approximately 4.2 million deserving families will receive a direct benefit of Rs10,000 each, helping them manage their expenses with dignity.

A key highlight of this program is the introduction of the Nigehban Card. More than two million beneficiaries will be issued these cards, which will allow them to purchase essential commodities and withdraw cash easily. To make the process seamless, the government is setting up 136 card activation centers throughout Punjab. Additionally, the existing monthly assistance for ration card holders is being increased from Rs3,000 to Rs10,000 specifically for the month of Ramazan. You can see the official announcement and more details about how these measures are being implemented in this Instagram video link which covers the Chief Minister's directives in detail.

Beyond direct cash transfers, the government is focusing on making food more accessible. The "Nigehban Dastarkhwan – Maryam Kay Mehman" initiative will be established in each tehsil, providing Iftar to thousands of people daily. Furthermore, 65 Sahulat Bazaars and various mobile Ramazan markets will be operational in 30 districts to keep the prices of flour, ghee, and poultry in check. To ensure transparency and maintain high standards of cleanliness and security, a provincial monitoring room equipped with over 1,200 cameras will oversee the operations of these bazaars around the clock.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has emphasized that the delivery of these services should be simple and accessible. From free home delivery options to the strict monitoring of food quality by the Punjab Food Authority, every step is being taken to prioritize the welfare of the citizens. This Rs47 billion investment represents a major step in social safety, reflecting the government's commitment to supporting the public during one of the most important times of the year. By mobilizing commissioners and deputy commissioners for personal monitoring, the province aims to set a new standard for public relief and administrative efficiency.
