The City Traffic Police in Rawalpindi have set a massive new benchmark for law enforcement activities throughout the year 2025. According to the latest official statistics, authorities issued over 1.1 million traffic tickets resulting in a staggering collection of Rs 1.1 billion in fines which were subsequently deposited into the national treasury. This significant increase in enforcement was made possible by the dedication of more than 1,300 traffic officers deployed across the district. The data indicates that enforcement activity jumped by 44 percent compared to the previous year showing a serious commitment to restoring order on the roads.

Motorcyclists faced the strictest scrutiny receiving over 653,000 tickets with driving without a license being the most frequent overall violation accounting for more than 213,200 citations. Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam highlighted that a special campaign successfully raised helmet usage to 88 percent among riders which contributed to a decline in fatal accidents compared to 2024. The department also focused on other dangerous behaviors such as negligent driving and obstructing traffic flow. Beyond manual ticketing the city embraced technology by introducing a sophisticated e-challan system in November 2025 utilizing 2,100 smart cameras to monitor violations automatically.

Alongside the crackdown there was a positive trend in compliance as a record 328,000 new driving licenses were issued during the same period. This shift suggests that citizens are becoming more aware of legal requirements. Officer Aslam reiterated that the primary goal of these strict measures is not merely to generate revenue but to protect the lives of citizens through better road safety awareness. With the integration of the new command and control center monitoring 19 different types of violations the traffic police are well equipped to continue this momentum into 2026 ensuring safer journeys for everyone in Rawalpindi.
