RIYADH / DAHHRAN — September 9, 2026 — In a dramatic and forceful response to yesterday's devastating Houthi drone and missile attack on the critical Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, the Saudi-led Coalition has announced the launch of a massive retaliatory military campaign. Codenamed "Operation Decisive Storm II," the offensive aims to "systematically dismantle" Houthi military capabilities and prevent further cross-border aggression.
A Day of Escalation and Retribution
The day began with Saudi Arabia confirming significant damage to the world's largest oil processing facility at Abqaiq, which temporarily halved the kingdom's oil production.
