The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Faisalabad has launched a groundbreaking initiative to tackle urban flooding and water scarcity simultaneously in the city. In a strategic move to improve the drainage system specifically for the Madina Town area the agency has finalized plans to construct a state-of-the-art recharge well and an underground storage tank. This development is set to take place in prominent locations with the recharge well being constructed in the Susaan Road green belt while the large underground storage tank will be situated adjacent to Faizan Madina Chowk. The primary goal of this project is to ensure the rapid drainage of rainwater particularly during the upcoming monsoon season which often causes significant challenges for residents in low lying areas.
During a joint site visit on Tuesday WASA Managing Director Saqib Raza and PHA Director General Dilawar Khan Chadhar reviewed the finalized plans for this dual-purpose infrastructure. They highlighted that this project is not just about drainage but also serves a critical environmental function by helping to replenish the depleting groundwater levels in the city. By capturing rainwater and channeling it back into the ground the administration is adopting a sustainable approach to water management https://www.dawn.com/news/1964190. Furthermore the officials announced that this engineering feat will be complemented by an aesthetic upgrade as beautiful plants will be added to the green belts to transform Susaan Road into a model thoroughfare for the city.
