The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has highlighted a massive surge in digital adoption revealing that over 70 percent of households across the country now utilize internet services. This figure represents a remarkable leap from just 34 percent in 2019 indicating that digital connectivity has more than doubled in a few short years. The findings surfaced from a recent survey by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics which the PTA welcomed as a clear sign of broad expansion in digital accessibility. The data shows that mobile phone or smartphone access is now available in more than 96 percent of households nationwide. Interestingly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has emerged as a leader in this digital revolution boasting the highest household digital access rate at 77 percent which authorities have described as a matter of great pride.
On an individual level internet usage has climbed to 57 percent in 2025 up significantly from 17 percent in 2019 while mobile phone usage stands at 92 percent nationwide. A striking revelation from the survey is that internet usage among urban women has surpassed that of men with 71 percent of women in cities connected online compared to over 67 percent of men. This shift points towards improved digital literacy and safer online practices among the public. For more specific details on these statistics you can read the full story at
