BIRMINGHAM, September 12, 2026, Pakistan’s Razaullah Khan has announced himself on the international stage in spectacular fashion, smashing 81 runs from just 63 balls on his Test debut against England at Edgbaston. The 21-year-old fast bowler walked in at No. 9 with Pakistan in serious trouble and turned the match on its head with a fearless counterattack.
Razaullah blasted nine sixes and four fours, reaching his half-century from only 43 balls. His nine sixes equalled the record for the most sixes by a Test debutant, putting him alongside Tim Southee and matching the mark set in Test cricket.
The young Pakistani arrived at the crease with Pakistan struggling at 318 for eight, but instead of defending, he attacked England’s pace attack. Razaullah repeatedly cleared the boundary against Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue, producing one of the most unexpected innings of the series.
His assault helped Pakistan move from the brink of an innings defeat to 449 all out, giving England a target of 130 runs and forcing the final Test into a fourth day. Razaullah also shared a crucial 121-run partnership with Mohammad Abbas, who contributed 42.
Razaullah’s heroics were not limited to batting. Earlier in the Test, the debutant claimed four wickets, including England captain Joe Root, making his first international appearance even more remarkable.
The dramatic innings also earned Razaullah a standing ovation from the Edgbaston crowd when he walked off after being dismissed for 81. His performance has suddenly made the previously little-known 21-year-old one of the biggest stories of Pakistan’s England tour.
With England needing 130 runs to win the Test, Razaullah’s extraordinary debut has given Pakistan an unexpected chance of avoiding a 3-0 series sweep.
